AMENITIES & FEATURES

Explore the Home’s Features

Home Layout

Each of the eight households in the Home are named after flora and fauna, with all but one being local to the area. The home names are: Cedar, Palm, Flame Tree, Wattle, Lilly Pilly, Figtree, Ironbark and Banksia.

Rooms are based on these household names, for example: Lilly Pilly room 6.

Each household has its own lounge, kitchen servery, dining room and balconies. In addition, there are communal areas such as the family room, chapel, wellness centre, clinic and indoor garden.

Memory Boxes

Beautifully appointed locked glass memory boxes are located just outside each residents’ room. Residents can place personal and sentimental memorabilia in the box as a reminder of which door is theirs to enter.

The memory boxes are designed to help make each resident feel comfortable in their new surroundings. They are the result of a collaborative project with the University of Wollongong, Blue Haven, our local community, people with dementia and their carers.

Lounge

The Residential Aged Care Home has open plan dining and lounge areas that have a sense of connection and flow between the spaces.

The Home has been specifically designed to make each resident feel like they are in their own home rather than in a clinical environment.

Dining Area

Our Residential Aged Care Homes have open plan dining and lounge areas that provide a sense of connection and flow between the spaces.

All servery areas have back of house lifts for trolley service to avoid food trolleys being wheeled through resident lounge rooms or dining rooms.

Kitchen Servery

Fresh dietician-approved meals are prepared daily in our onsite central kitchen. Meals are then brought to each individual household’s own kitchen for serving residents. The kitchen servery includes bench, fridge, oven and cooktop.

Balconies

Each household includes shared balconies with quality furnishings – designed to enjoy the ocean or mountain views.

Family Room

This communal room is located on the first floor and designated for residents, family and visitors providing extra privacy. This room is also fitted out to provide a private breast-feeding room available for staff and visitors.

Chapel

A Chapel is situated on the ground floor and fitted with audio-visual technology, a lectern and chairs. The Chapel is non-denominational  and welcomes all faiths. The Chapel is a space for any resident, and their family and visitors, to enter at any time to reflect, pray, meditate and enjoy stillness and quiet time.

Wellness Centre

Resident health is the number one priority, which is why Bonaira includes its own wellness centre, fitted out with gym equipment including treadmill and weights.

Blue Haven’s Recreational Team offer a range of activities in the Wellness Centre. An activities schedule is available outside the Wellness Centre and on the public plasma TV screens located throughout each of the 8 homes and the Aged Care Home main foyer.

Salon

There’s no need to travel into town, with a wheelchair accessible hairdressing salon conveniently located on the ground floor – equipped with two basins and three hair cutting stations. There is also nail technician available – right at your fingertips!

Clinic

A simple journey to our ground floor clinic means there’s no need to seek client transport to doctor or other medical appointments.

The clinic consultation room is located next door to the hair salon near the main entrance to our Aged Care Home.

Blue Haven service providers such as General Practitioners, our resident Speech Therapist, our resident Nutritionist, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists visit the consultation room to provide professional clinical and medical care to individual residents.

Residents can also request consults within their private rooms.

Indoor Garden

The indoor atrium garden is in the heart of the Home. Surrounded by glass walls extending from the ground to top floors, the indoor garden is a well-appointed feature that provides a sense of calm.

Community Hall

Designed with community in mind, Blue Haven Bonaira features a range of community spaces at the heart of the village.

Admire sweeping ocean and mountain views from the panoramic communal rooftop, catch up with friends over a coffee at Barroul House Cafe or take advantage of a range of activities at the Community Hall.

The Community Hall can be booked as a public space or enjoyed as a quiet place to sit and ponder outside of times when Blue Haven Community Services social groups are playing the piano, board games or other activities as part of their Home Care Packages support.
