International Nurses Day 2022

Kiama Council Mayor Neil Reilly and Blue Haven Illawarra CEO Jane Stroud have paid tribute to our aged care workers on International Nurses Day (12 May).

“What a great international reminder of our valued front line nursing and care staff,” said Cr Reilly.

“Now more than ever, we should stop to say thank you to our nursing staff. They have worked at our Blue Haven facility tirelessly, pulling long shifts, within a national staffing shortage, and all through months of COVID lock downs and vaccination programs.”

“My wife is a registered nurse and I know all too well how physically demanding each shift can be, the myriad of complex human support services they provide and the real care and attention to people.”

CEO Jane Stroud praised Blue Haven’s nurses, care staff, and nurse educators who all work together to make sure that quality care is provided to our residents.

“Our aged care workers have overcome incredible difficulties during the pandemic. They have navigated new infection control procedures and supported residents during social restrictions and lockdowns,” Ms Stroud said.

“It is no surprise even these amazing professionals have often felt overworked, but never overwhelmed.”

“From the bottom of all our hearts here at Kiama Council and Blue Haven we say a sincere and much meant ‘Thank You’ for all for your dedication, kindness, and compassion. We acknowledge your hard work and resilience.”

Blue Haven Illawarra is currently recruiting for a number of nursing roles:
